I'm a Grandmother!

The Boy has recently become the proud 'parent' of two large caterpillars.

He's also given some away to most of the kids on our street - some of them to their doom; reports have filtered back of numerous squashings, losings and starvings - of the caterpillars that is, not the kids.

I used to love creepy crawlies (NOT Daddylonglegsis) when I was a nipper - although I have to say having a large jar on the mantle-piece full of caterpillar pooh isn't as marvellous as I remember.

Actually when I was little I took my caterpillars into Mrs Eyles' class at Silvermead School where they were adopted as class pets. They eventually turned into chrysalises and then emerged as butterflies half way through a maths lesson. Happy Days.

Keeping mini-beasts is definitely something that all young kids should do at least once in my humble opinion.. as long as they are kept carefully, not squashed, starved or subjected to junior level mathematics!
