Escape!

By Laura Yates on Sep 16, 08 09:24 PM

The two caterpillars both escaped from their home on our mantelpiece! I told The Boy not to bodge airholes in cling film using a biro!

I was tidying up when I noticed something strange in The Other Half's trainer. Turned out it was the smaller of the two caterpillars. I returned him to his jar and realised his mate had disappeared too! I was looking round for ages.

Other Half did make me smile: "I'm gonna find it, and when I do, I'm gonna kill it and feed it to The Boy." Brilliant, caterpillar found AND The Boy gets a bit of protein! Everybody wins.

Thankfully for the caterpillar it was me who found him, on the ceiling! I've put some new cling film over the jar now. Hope they don't need a lot of oxygen, as they only have one airhole the size of a pin.

Dear cousin, I'd like to remind you of your childhood 'stick insects' that frequently escaped and were found all over the ceilings and walls of your hollywood home each and every time I went round there. Actually how can you be so anti daddy L legs when you were so fond of the little sticky things? Ahhh memories...! Ooh just wait till tadpole season!

My stick insects were brilliant. Fact.

They were not like those horrid, flying beasties!

Anyway, one of the caterpillars has turned into a chrysalis now so there's no danger of it disappearing again.

The other one wasn't so lucky - it was found at the bottom of the jar, in a squashed heap. That one won't be going anywhere either, except for caterpillar heaven.
