Karren and David schmooze in the city

By Steve Dyson on September 27, 2008 9:16 AM |

Senior delegates are extremely excited that a would-be elected mayor of Brum is gracing the forthcoming Tory conference with her full presence.

Yes, Karren Brady is flaunting her true blue colours tomorrow night to welcome Cameron and co to Birmingham, and my spies close to the shadow cabinet reckon there will be some serious schmoozing.

Could the current Blues boss be tempted to stay in Brum until the possible future Tory government forces the elected mayor issue, potentially allowing her to take up the reins of the city?

I'm told that David is well smitten, (with the idea of Karren in a mayoral chain, that is.)

Oh great. The young Tories like a group of sixth-formers trying to peep down Karren's cleavage!

One over-privileged , clueless toff , and one ruthlessly ambitious wannabee , made for each other.

C'mon, boys, fair's fair... you complain politics is boring and then you complain at the prospect of it getting interesting! I for one would welcome a lady of Karren's calibre in and among the usual private school gangs.

I didn't say politics was boring!

You get the politicians you deserve , after all , we voted for 'em! , so lets take a long , hard look at the bunch of self-serving, short termists we have put in charge of the shop.

Ugh.

'Fraid I do not agree!
Fact is, Labour are on the way out unless they pull the economics out of the fire in early 2010.
Therefore, DC is the PM in waiting. Get used to that!
And, if DC likes KB's style, she's in for whatever job she goes for for the Tories. Elected Mayor? Maybe. MP and fast track to Sports Minister? Who knows.
You sound like you do not like them but, to be fair, who's better? For PM and Elected Mayor of Brum... no-one I can think of (I mean, for Crissakes, Milliband??!!)

People would do well to remember what the Tories did to the UK the last time they were in power; destroyed jobs, wiped out manufacturing, interest rates at 15%, high inflation and unemployment, yes we really do need another Tory government!! [NOT]

What qualifies Brady as a potential mayor other than a great track record of overcharging brummies (in this case blues fans) for little return?

Hang on she's probably over-qualified.

Of course if miss Brady became Mayor then she would get her new stadium 4 Birmingham

Jackie R - I am resolved to enduring another Tory government , my disillusionment with the political system goes much further than any potential future incumbents.

Quite frankly , MP's have a membership at the most exclusive private members club in London , they have no notion of public service , or sense of duty , their first objective is to line their own pockets , their second is to line the pockets of their masters who put them there, and I do not mean the electorate.

I do not like any of them - period.

So , please , don't tell me to " get used to " the idea of David Cameron as the next PM.

I have nothing but contempt for the whole sorry mess of them.

I'm torn, on the one hand i'd be glad to see the back of her at Blues, on the other hand think of the damage she'd do to the city with her penny wise pound foolish ways. She and her cohorts on the Blues board have halved our supporter base in just over 3 years.
Second thoughts she'd fit in with the party that sold off our utilities to give tax breaks to the uber rich
