My fuzzy-felt day...
We editors are very busy and important folk, don't you know. Guess what we've been spending our precious time doing this afternoon?
Er, two hours cutting up tiny squares of Post-Its, sticking them on pieces of paper and then moving them around... and around... and around.
Yep. That's the sort or crucial thing I get to do in this chair.
Seriously, it was quite tough stuff. The Post-Its, I mean. It took us ages to carve up the shapes we needed, plus I almost cut my finger AND littered my colleague's office floor with tiny specks of yellow paper.
All in a good cause, I can assure you. Marc Reeves, editor of sister paper The Birmingham Post, and I made ourselves go through this meeting for what I had long-heralded as our 'fuzzy-felt day' in connection with our move to Fort Dunlop. (Do YOU remember fuzzy-felt? Great days).
Anyway. A new space... a certain number of desks.... bodies to fit in.... who goes where... are there enough spaces.... can she swap with him.... will he be in head office.... didn't she want to work from home.... will this plan work?
Well, it did. Just.
And we both had great fun. Ah, the joys of editing. (Almost cheered me up about my wrecked hols...)
