birminghammail.net fans will be enjoying our relatively new video news service, so I thought I'd give you an idea on its viewing figures.

In February, the first full month of the new site, there was a total of 167,937 videos viewed.

There's an average of one news video a day uploaded, from a team of, er, one full-time video journalist and four reporters who each spend a day a week on VJ duties.

Top news video last week was ice meteors hitting a school playing field (probably frozen toilet waste from a passing jet).

The story came in Friday week ago via our Education Correspondent Tony Collins. The school told him just hours after the meteor landed.

We went out for news, pictures and video, splashing on the story the following day (Saturday) with the video boosted from print. It scored 8,863 views in the week that followed.
