jennifer-garner-ben-affleck-violet.jpgBEN Affleck has revealed that he's doing less acting these days so that he can spend more quality time with his family and also focus more on directing.

The Oscar winner, who stars in State Of Play alongside Russell Crowe, wanted to unwind with wife Jennifer Garner and their two daughters, three-year-old Violet and eight-month-old Seraphina.

"That has to do with my family - my wife and I try to work at different times. I'm starting another movie and then I will direct a movie, so she'll take some time off then," he said.

The Sunday Express newspaper reported that a spirited argument over licensing laws apparently ended with the 45-year-old actor being banned from The Brickmakers in Windlesham, Surrey.

Crowe's manager Grant Vandenberg said the newspaper story was untrue.

"The only truth to the whole thing is that he has been" to the pub, Vandenberg told Nine Network television in Australia.

"He has been there four or five times with his kids. There is a playground in the back," Vandenberg added.

The New Zealand-born actor is filming Ridley Scott's new Robin Hood movie on the Pembrokeshire Coast, and popped into the Carew Inn, near Tenby, with nine fellow cast members for a feast of mussels and chicken, the Daily Express reports.

After enjoying the meal, the 45-year-old paid the £240 bill and then added in the huge tip.

The Oscar winner had brought his guitar along with him, and even treated the the pub to an impromptu performance with the help of his co-stars, ER's Scott Grimes and Kevin Durand, who played The Blob in X-Men: Wolverine.

tom-cruise-katie-holmes.jpgTOM Cruise and Katie Holmes may work in films but they can't get enough of movies on a big screen in their Beverly Hills mansion.

She told People.com: "I love to watch movies on the big screen. I love action movies. I love Spielberg movies, I love my husband's movies, Ang Lee's movies. I actually just saw State Of Play, and I thought that was a really great movie, a great Russell Crowe movie. I love dramas. I love musicals."

And it seems their three-year-old daughter Suri has also caught the film bug. "She loves Sleeping Beauty and all the Disney movies," said Katie.

IT'S all change for Ridley Scott's next big budget production, the tale of Nottingham's most famous son, Robin Hood.

Now Cate Blanchett looks set to play the role of Maid Marian opposite fellow Australian actor, Russell Crowe.

Brit actress Sienna Miller had been signed up for the role but left the production late last year.

The title of the movie has also been altered, from its original, Nottingham to the more eponymous, Robin Hood.

Shooting is expected to start in April with a $130 million budget. Production was supposed to start last August but got postponed because of the threat of an actors' strike.

It's reported the movie will follow an original story about Robin of Loxley, who abandoned as a child, finds a home, family and friends among the common people of Nottingham.

GLADIATOR heartthrob Russell Crowe has gained more than four stone on a fast food diet for his role in new film, Body of Lies.

Crowe, 44, has piled on the pounds to play a manipulative CIA boss in the movie alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

He says he fattened up by eating junk food, sweets and cakes.

But he reckons his hard drinking days are behind him since becoming a dad to Charles, four and two-year-old Tennyson.

Crowe has just finished work on the drama State of Play, based on the BBC series of the same name and will soon head to England to shoot the new Robin Hood film, Nottingham.
