Thought I was hearing things in the office today when the Mail's restaurant spy Paul Fulford admitted he was partial to the classic kids grub of fish finger sandwiches and tommy sauce.
The refined palate of the man more used to foie gras and quail's eggs conceding that he doesn't mind a bit of Bird's Eye and ketchup? Surely some mistake.
Realising his faux pas he quickly added "obviously the fish would have to be hand caught and sustainable an the bread made from Japanese panko breadcrumbs".
Thanks Mr F - you had me worried there for a minute.
But on a serious note, how many parents can resist tucking into their chldren's leftovers and why do they taste so damn good - even when the're stone cold?
I saw Sainsbury's are selling the school lunchtime staple @1980 of Spam Fritters, but what other gems have vanished off our menus these days...can anyone jog my memory?
