THERE'S a powerful new British horror movie coming out next week called Eden Lake.

It features more people being tied up and tortured... and there's a deeply unpleasant tongue-twisting scene with a knife.

Not forgetting a 'flaming' necklace.

Another unnecessarily violent film?

Well, yes and no.

Apart from some deeply implausible decisions by the two leading characters (ie victims), the ending is sufficiently ambivalent in a Gone Baby Gone way as to make you think twice about modern society.

That's assuming, of course, that you a) get that far and b) have a brain... because one wonders what immature young people who aren't capable of much rational thought will make of it if they get to the final credits.
