AN EPIC interview with Scottish based comic script writer recently began at British comics news site Downthetubes

Handley is the writer behind Panini's Eagle award-winning Spider-Man title and their new G.I. Joe comic.

He is also responsible for over 250 books in the Commando digest series.

Downthetubes' John Freeman said: "Jeremy Briggs talks to Ferg Handley about his work.. and discovers how to write a comic strip sequel to a film that you have not seen and are not even allowed to see the script of!"

It has further been described as a "fascinating insight into his work" the interview also covers the rest of Ferg's varied career from the fantasy of Games Workshop to the humour of The Dandy via the football pitch and the comix underground.

WAR IS Hell, but that hasn't stopped it being a popular theme for boys' adventure comics.

Recent years have found many classic British war strips collected into books that have many a mainstream bookshop happy via their healthy sales, but only one comic still tells tales of daring-do on a regular basis, and that is D.C. Thomson's Commando comic.

These days Commando tells tales from throughout all of history, and one of its main writers is Ferg Handley, who is also responsible for many an enjoyable tale for Panini's Spectacular Spider-Man. An exclusive two-part interview with Ferg can be found at: www.commandomag.com a website dedicated to the war comic.
