On many occasions I have passed and admired the thin, triangular, red coloured building that stands on a sharp corner at the bottom of Constitution Hill, but ventured in for the first time last night.
Various restaurants have occupied these Grade II listed premises before, but now it is called Syriana and serves Syrian and Lebanese food.
The welcome my guests and I received was one of the warmest I have encountered for a long time and the bill for masses of interesting and excallent food was amazingly low, which should please the bloke who signs my expenses.
Driving my son to New Street Station this afternoon, I spotted near Holloway Circus a new Lebanese restaurant called Beiruit.
I didn't have time (or inclination in the heavy traffic) to stop to check out the menu, but the place looked more fast food than high-end.
Nothing wrong with that if what's served is good quality. I'll let you know after I've paid a visit.
I like the food from that part of the world so fingers crossed Beiruit delivers.
