The significance of this team, please?
Bob Catlin
Paul Holmes
John Frain
Dean Peer
Paul Mardon
Trevor Matthewson
Ian Rodgerson
Simon Sturridge (substituted, Louie Donowa 82 minutes)
John Gayle
Paul Peschisolido (substituted, Paul Fenwick 67 minutes)
Paul Tait
Answer on Monday . . .

I think its the Leyland Daf cup final team, when John Gayle scored that outrageous overhead kick gainst Tranmere!
Is it the team that played in the either the last game before Sullivan took over or the first game after ?
1) None have played in the Premiership?
2) They've all dated the same woman?(Incl subs)
3) Barry Fry took a cut of their transfer fee?
4) Give up.............
Can i have 2 guesses? Thanks
1) 1st ever team to be promoted from old div3 to div1 after the restructure?
2) Last ever blues side to play in front of the old spion kop, tilton before demolition?
3-2 1991 layland daf team
Come on, you can do better than that! (Although letsby's is funny)
One of you might be right however . . .
whatever team it was, i bet they wore those weird orange yellow green and blue strips i had wen i was 6!!
Judging by the names that looks like a '92-'93 under Terry Cooper. It's certainly not the Leyland Daf side.
I would guess that JMC is correct and it's probably the team that played in DS's first game way back in March '93.
Yes, first team of the Sullivan era. I think within a week we had signed George Parris, David Smith, Scott Hiley and Paul Moulden, and sold Paul Holmes to Everton. A week after that and Richard Dryden and Andy Saville arrived too
That is the team that played away at St James Park in a 2-2 draw in King Kev's first first season at St James' Park when they got promoted to the Prem and we stayed up (just). We'd just bought Bob Catlin "by accident"
Is it the team that played Newcastle? I'm sure Andy Savile scored in that game and he's not listed.
I think Bob Catlin was on loan from Notts County.
Re Bob Catlin, here's a bit more on him:

I would suggest there are no footballers in your list of players. its all very well tackling the ball but sometimes football is all about football football football. Ball manipulation, curio talents and facilitating goals at the right end while keeping them out at the other end. I would suggest
Captain mardon de de de de dar
Captain mardon de de de de dar
Captain mardon de de de de dar
Good luck Blues. Hopeing you lot knock those cocky geordies back down to the championship.
