They say football's the same the world over, it doesn't matter where you are from.

Well, it's all Greek down St Andrew's - or should that be Scottish?

The tartan invasion has meant that your intrepid reporter has been left trying to fathom out what on earth Alex McLeish is talking about.

When Steve Bruce was here, you became familiar with some of his stock phrases like 'brutually honest', 'that's for sure' and 'have a right good go'.

Now, with Big Eck in charge, it's a case of lost in translation.

So far he has given us 'a wee jag', 'gallas', and 'shootie-in' during his pre and post-match interviews.

Apparently they mean (respectively) to prick or cajole, a daring, confident person and having plenty of shots on goal or shooting practice like in a kids kickabout.

With Roy Aitken and Andy Watson as his coaches, and James McFadden joining Garry O'Connor on the playing staff, Scottish has replaced French as the official language at Blues.

Hoots Mon!
