Well aisle be damned
I BROKE a golden rule last night...and it cost me dear.
We decided to switch from one high street supermarket to a cheaper rival and were set to make our maiden voyage down the new aisles packed with tempting new treats.
But we decided to make it a family outing (that's how sad our lives are) and agreed to take Jess and Alex.
Big mistake.
Five minutes in and the moaning started, ten minutes in and they were mindlessly hitting us demanding to go home, 20 minutes in and we did what all right minded parents do - bribed them.
A football magazine at £3, felt tip pens to add to the mountain of dried up ones at £2, four boxes of Buy One Get One Free Shredded Wheat (for the toy inside) and countless stupid grimace-inducing sauces that will be tried once and ditched.
Oh, and the two or three things furtively hidden beneath the proper shopping - Oreos at £1.75 because Alex "thought they l;ooked nice"!
In the end our switch added about a tenner to the weekly shop...I'll be going on my own next time.
