Hidden bedroom surprises

By Bad Dad on May 5, 08 12:23 PM

CRISP packets (eight!!), sweet wrappers (countless), bits of plastic which once belonged to games, 'must-have' warhammer figures painstakingly painted (one or two anyway until the novelty wore off), boxer shorts.

Just a snapshot of life - and I do mean life - under Nick's bed.

Fortunately I wasn't there when my wife spent four hours wading through the detritus of our eldest's life.

But just as she neared the end she stumbled across the crowing glory - there, hidden very cleverly (NOT!) inside an old supermarket bag, nestled a bottle of lemon liqueur.

It is a drink I thought had vanished due to lack of popularity many years ago, but one that Nick seems to be single handedly trying to revive.

To be fair he'd only touched the top fifth of it and then reached the obvious conclusion that it is a gross tipple best left for the dustbin...or beneath the bed.

Two days ago his room looked spotless, but there are already signs that he's creeping back to his old ways - newly ironed shirts crumpled on the floor, trousers thrown in a heap by the door.

Next time we'll leave it and see what we find. It will probably be 'picture books' next....there's something to look forward to.
