Fergie I ain't....but
IT'S been a pretty hectic week one way or another - hence the reason my blog hasn't been updated.
When I haven't been at work preparing for the exciting launch of the new Mail Extra which hits the city on Thursday, I've had the tail end of the boys football season to contend with.
By the time I've sat down each night, blogging is the last thing on my mind - but now the interminable footie season is over, I should be back on track.
Even among the exhausting taxi driving, touchline pacing and armchair slumping, there are nuggets of joy that make it all worthwhile.
Take the football for example - we had to squeeze in three games last week to complete the season but at the end I had both the lads and their mums and dads thanking me for coaching them this season.
Like Alex Ferguson I can now sit back with my feet up and delight in the fact that a ramshackle outfit at the start of the season (okay, Man Utd weren't) turned into a top three side by the end.
The boys were thrilled, none of them want to leave and - I'll whisper it quetly so my wife doesn't hear - I can't wait for next season to start.
The reason for the transformation - we told them to have fun and enjoy their football.
The looks on the faces of children who've listened, learned and put your words into practice are priceless.
