Curry night controversy

By Bad Dad on Mar 9, 08 05:21 PM

My wife and I committed an unutterably heinous crime this weekend.

It was an offence against humanity and one which we dare not repeat in case we find ourselves hauled before Childline, or worse, the Court of Human Rights.

It involved several pints of lager and, if I remember rightly, a prawn puri and lamb passanda.

It was, of course, the unmentionable crime of going out for the night....TWO WEEKENDS IN A ROW!

"You've been out for the last four weekends and left us on our own" and "you're never here" were two of the gross exaggerations hurled our way by Nick, 14, quite mature and more than capable of calling us back the 50 yards.

Worse was to come though as he tried to capitalise on my wife's unease at going out again.

"Jess, you might as well call me dad now as your real dad's never here," he opined.

"Yes," she sobbed, clearly in on the act....."dad", just to turn the knife in the wound.

We went out, had a lovely night with some good friends and were back in time for Match of the Day - the whole row forgotten.

So wrapped up in their anger at our rare outing were they that they clean forgot to bargain for payment - until they read this that is.
