Luke before you leap

THE fact that Luke Young is, in Martin O'Neill's words, 'mulling over' a move to Liverpool, proves how much Villa's surplus-to- requirements right-back wants to play football.

Mulling over?

For most thirty-something footballers a transfer to Anfield, even an Anfield down on its luck and a pale imitation of its former self, would represent the stuff of dreams.

Especially for a player who despite his best efforts has been forced to take the almighty hint that he is no longer wanted at Villa Park - at least not by the manager.

Is Ashley Young so good he can hit the crossbar from the halfway line with his eyes closed.

According to the latest Villa viral to hit the internet he is!

The videos are part of a novel viral video campaign from Villa's marketing team to promote season tickets.

They also feature Carlos Cuellar silencing a noisy groundsman, John Carew fixing a broken sign and James Milner showing some far from rubbish shooting.

It's your call, Emile

heskey pic.jpgEngland striker Emile Heskey skulks past the press with his mobile glued to his ear following an international match at Wembley some years ago.

Heskey appears to be deep in conversation which will obviously prevent him from stopping to talk to the assembled hacks.

But, just as he gets beyond the group of journalists, the phone he is supposedly chatting on rings and exposes his dastardly plan to avoid being interviewed - he wasn't on a call after all!

In fairness to the bulky targetman he stops, raises his hand in acknowledgement, as if to say 'you got me' and goes over to sheepishly fulfil his press duties with a wry smile on his face.

That true story emphasises two things; that Heskey is a reluctant interviewee and that he is a terrible bluffer.
